Eucharistic fete at SAC |
The solemn Eucharistic celebration of the St Aloysius College Institutions at the College premises here on Monday witnessed participation from a large number of clergy as well as laity including the staff, students, parents and alumni. The sight of a large number of clergy including Mangalore Diocesan Bishop Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D'Souza (main celebrant) along with Arch Bishop Emeritus (Bangalore) Rev Dr Ignatius Pinto, Bishop (Belthangady) Rev Dr Lawrence Mukkuzhy, Bishop(Shimoga) Rev Dr Gerald Lobo, Bishop(Kannur), Rev Dr Varghese Chakkalakal, Karnataka Jesuit Province Provincial Rev Fr Vijay Kumar Prabhu, Institutions Rector Rev Fr Francis Serrao and more than 100 priests on the altar was itself a feast to the eyes of those gathered. Delivering the sermon, Rev Dr Ignatius Pinto said a mustard seed (College) sown 125 years ago with just 150 students has grown into a huge tree with 9,000 odd students, to whom knowledge is being imparted. Recalling the service of the Jesuits, he said “it is not the building that matters… but the people behind it” Soon after the holy mass, there was a felicitation programme in which Provincial Rev Fr Vijay Kumar Prabhu and Rector Rev Fr Francis Serrao felicitated the five Bishops. All the five Bishop hailed the contribution of the College to the society of in their individual address. Prof Eric Patrao of the college proposed the vote of thanks in a unique way even as representatives of each institution of the College, High School, Primary and ITI sections presented a unique gift such as peta (turban, stick, cake, fruits etc to the Rector of the Institutions, Rev Fr Francis Serrao.
