M. Sc. (Bioinformatics)

          It is four years since M Sc-BIOINFORMATICS was started at St Aloysius Institute of Computer Sciences, St Aloysius College,Mangalore.

St Aloysius College( AUTONOMOUS) is the only college in Karnataka to offer this P G programme affiliated to Mangalore University.

We have an intake of forty. Unlike other Bioinformatics PG courses, which only deal with tools used in Bioinformatics, the M.Sc course at St Aloysius College, offered at AIMIT, the NEW CAMPUS at Beeri, Kotekar, lays a lot of stress on the Information Technology for biological data processing. Our students, hence, qualify even to be selected by IT firms.

      Candidates to join M.Sc(bioinfo) will be selected on the basis of the marks obtained in Degree examinations. All those who would like to join the course will apply immediately.

        There has been good placement this year. AMDOCS and Silicon Biotech have already selected some candidates. And soon BIOBASE is expected to come for campus recruitment.

Duration   : Two years.
Eligibility : B.Sc. in with Chemistry /Biology either at the Degree level or at PUC.

Application & Registration Fees:
                Kindly send Rs 550 towards the Application and Registration along with the duly filled form downloaded from the web site. Prospectus will be sent on receipt of the amount. You are also required to send RECOMMENDATIONS from three of your lecturers along with the application form.


BIOINFORMATICS CENTER

          The Department of Biotechnology ( DBT) , Govt of India has instituted BIOINFORMATICS CENTRE at St Aloysius College to promote the study of Bioinfotmatics and Research. The Institute has been conducting various workshops and seminars to spread the knowledge of Bioinformatics, and to promote the study of biology using bioinformatics tools . The students of the under graduate classes have also benefited from the various certificate and diploma courses offered by the Bioinformatics Centre.

      There is also special NRI (Payment quota) for a select number of seats. 20% of the candidates will be selected under merit cum need fee structure . Those candidates (local) who would like to be considered under merit-cum-need category should apply for financial assistance along with the application form.

Financial Aid forms are available at the Centre office. Anybody giving, false information while applying for Financial Aid is liable to lose his/her seat.

Students who have secured ranks at the degree level in the University will be selected under merit cum need category
INTERVIEWS

 The Interview will be condcuted after the Entrance Test. dates will be announced later.

 Selected candidates are expected to get the following documents in original.

 1. Pass Certificate
 2. Eligibility Certificate (for those from outside Karnataka.)
 3. Migration Certificate for those from other Universities.
