Information Technology Activities
    

    In addition to the academic activities, the students of MCA and MS (Software Technology) are involved in several Extra Circular Activities. This will give them an opportunity to become the leaders of tomorrow. Along with the technical expertise they have been promoted to carry out several exercises through which they can increase the ability in Public speaking. Analytics etc.  “ELIXIR” the MCA association and “MAGISTER”, Software technology association are organizing lot of events to exhibit Leadership abilities among the young professionals.

    The Institute, on regular basis, organizes, courses in Personality Development for the personal growth of students. The faculty of the Business Management, and other experts in the field are called to conduct such programmes. Training in Problem solving, Aptitude Tests, Group Discussion (GD) are part of the regular schedule. Right from the first semester, students are expected to particiapte in presentations, seminars and discussions.

‘INFO TALKS’:

    ‘INFO TALKS’- General Lectures, Seminars, Webinars The Department of MCA and MS – Software Technology as regularly organizing Guest lectures on essential and most modern technologies to the student community. Every week on Friday afternoon is going to be an invited address from the eminent speakers from IT industry and Academia. Two days seminars/workshops with hand on experience of technology/tool/open source software have been organizing in the past. AIMIT also has industry interactions, through which it organizes Webinars too, directly from the Development sites of Software Companies like Infosys, HP, IBM, Intel, EMC.

Anveeksha:

    'Anveeksha' is the National Level Paper Presentation of MCA students of AIMIT. This event has registered lot of participants, presenting the papers in the different areas of Computer Applications, Technology and Research like Business Intelligence, Database Engineering, Software Engineering, Advanced Computing, Operating Systems and Web applications. During this event the Keynote Lectures have been organized on various thrust areas if Research.

 

epITome:

    The Post Graduate Department of Information technology comprising MCA, MS (Software Technology), M.Sc (Bioinformatics), and PGDCA are organizing a National Level Inter-Collegiate IT fest ‘epITome’. Our students have successfully organized such programmes since 2000. The spotlight of the event's are focused on the entire student community from the various colleges in India with a view to bring forth their very best and to compete with each other in a healthy and sportive environment, putting their skill to test.

    A large number of MCA and Engineering graduates participate in this event every year and show case their talent in Coding, Debugging, Stress Interview, Best Manager, Product launch, IT quiz, Paper Presentation, Product Presentation etc.The motto of 'epITome' is "Conquering Heights". The theme of this event is to attain the highest standard in our specialized endeavors. It reflects the competitive IT scenario in terms of Perfection, Precision and Competence.

infoVision:

    Infovision Infovision is an interactive exhibition to showcase the talents of our young professionals from MCA and Engineering background. This exhibition enhances the ability of the students to be more creative and innovative in their approach by preparing computer aided applications, software, Hardware functioning, drivers etc. This event has registered several teams from Engineering Colleges to present their projects in the past. The projects have been jointly judged by the senior Academicians and people from the IT industry.

Rural Exposure:

    This porgramme has been introduced as the essential component of the MCA Degree programme right from the induction. The outreach programme of one week, which is to be conducted after the IV semester in the month of May every year to the Northern parts of Karnataka, which are backward regions and deprived from all sorts of modern facilities like education, Hospitals etc. Under this programme a group of MCA students have to stay in the house of villagers; in different villages belong to Mundgod, Hangal etc. This is a very unique occasion in the life of MCA graduate to feel for others practically by spending time with them and sharing the food with them. This aim of this exercise to understand once own social responsibility to other brethrens who are deprived from such modern amenities.

Magister:

    Magister is a community reprsenting the MS(Software Technology) Department of AIMIT.To promote technical writing among the student community, the department has newsletters namely¸“IT TALKS” & “Magister”. This is a very good forum for Staff and the Student community to get updated with the latest and the upcoming technologies, campus buzz and latest happenings in the Department. These Newsletters also serve the purpose of career guidance and help the students to find out the projects online and offline mode, about various higher education articles etc. These news letters are being published quarterly. The Department is bringing out a Journal on “Software Technology”. The aim of this Research Journal is to gear up the activities in the area of Computer Science and Software Technology.

    All students of the MS(Software Technology) department are its members. Many field trips , Technical Talk by the guest lecturers and other group events have been organised by the members of Magister under the guidance of respective faculty members. Recently, field trip to old age home was organised by Magister and all students of both 1st and 2nd year took active part in it where they conducted few programs and made the people smile, make them feel happy by creating homely environment. Similarly, early this year there was a seminar conducted for the final year BCA students of several colleges by team magister. Both the events were well organised and got effective response.
